Any person who is interested in fitness and wants to have good looking abs, that are firm, ripped and rock hard, along with a trim waist. All these things are achievable, however beware of people who tell you myths about flat stomachs and spot reduction around the waist.
As one exercises, they consume energy which is measured in calories. The preferred source of these calories is glycogen which is basically stored sugar in the muscles and liver. when all of the bodies glycogen stores are used up then the body turns to fat deposits for its energy / calorie needs. This is why you will here people say to burn fat you have to do 45min of cardio, and that is because your body has about 30min to 40min of glycogen stores and it is not until this energy source is depleted that the body will really start to burn any amount of fat stores.
Unfortunately you don't get to choose which fat deposits get burned off first. This means, you can't reduce ab fat by working on your abs, for example. Burning off the ab fat is still achievable, but doing abdominal exercises alone doesn't target abdominal fat. So please do not get persuaded by someone who tells you doing ab crunches will help you lose you gut.
When you focus on training the abs, you will end up building strength, by increasing the muscle mass in your abs. The increase in strength and muscle mass helps to keep the stomach and other internal organs well inside the plane defined by your hips.
There is no supplement or prescription drug on the market today that can cause a rapid reduction in fat from around your waist an abs. It can only be accomplished through proper nutrition and regular, moderate to heavy exercise. There is just no shortcut to a six pack and trim waist.
Another key component is genetics and age. Some people are prone to store more fat deposits around the middle, whereas another person might be prone to fat deposits on the lower back or belly. It is important to understand your genetic limitations and work around them. If the love handles are the first place that fat is stored on you, then it will most likely be the last place you will lose it.
In order to properly train your abs you have to go until your reach failure and can't do another single crunch or rep. There is absolutely no reason or purpose to doing 100 crunches! you may here that celebrity X does hundreds of crunches each day, and this is a complete waste of time! If done correctly, 20 reps is more than enough, as long as you go until you reach failure. so if 20 reps is not enough then add some weight to your chest, and please do not train abs everyday as they are like any other muscle and in order to grow they need rest and recovery days.
