Contusion - what is it?

contusion
learn what a contusion is and how it relates to bruising.
• Full article

A contusion is also known as a bruise. basically a contusion is the breaking of the blood vessels underneath the skin. Normally with a contusion or bruise you will get a bump and this is caused by two factors, the first being the blood leaking from the broken blood vessels the second factor is the inflammatory response your body has to the broken blood vessels. The common purplish or blue colour that is seen shortly after the contusion is the result of the blood that has leaked out and pooled in the area.
